Abyss Hand

Type: Quick Spell, using your Bonus Action

Reach: 60 feet

Duration: 1 minute, using Concentration

Effect: You summon a giant phantasmal hand from a powerful demon living in the abyss itself.

When you cast this spell, you can use 1 of the following effects with the Abyss Hand:

  • Make 1 Ranged Attack within reach. On a hit, you deal 1d6 dark damage and that target must then succeed on an Insight Save, or become Scared of you for 1 turn.
  • Choose 1 target within reach to be grappled by the Abyss Hand. That target must succeed on a Brawling Save, or become Contained or Immobilized (your choice) for 1 turn.
  • The Abyss Hand covers you. You are considered to be in Heavy Cover until the start of your next turn. A creature can use 1 Action to break this Cover.

While Concentrating on this spell, you can use your Bonus Action to use the Abyss Hand again.

Out of Control: If you lose your Concentration, the spell does not end and the Abyss Hand becomes hostile to you. During the end of your turns, you must then make a Bargain Save (DC 15). On a fail, the Abyss Hand attempts to Grapple you, like if it were trying to grapple any other creature. On a success, you can make this spell end.

Curse: A dark entity possesses one of your hands, causing it to occasionally move by itself. Before you make a Sleight of Hand Check, you must succeed on a Persuasion Save (DC 15) to avoid your hand from being possessed. On a fail, you automatically fail any Sleight of Hand Checks for the next hour as that hand starts moving by itself.
