Max HP and Posture

The Bard gains 6 Max HP and 3 Max Posture per level.

Additionally, the Endurance skill is added to the Max HP only once.

The Reflex skill is also added to the max Posture only once as well.

Bard Level 1

Bard Casting (Rank 0)

You learned the magic that comes from music itself.

Choose spells from the Bard Spell List for you to learn. They are all considered Bard spells, which have these traits:

  • You can only learn Bard spells of Level 0.

  • The number of Bard spells you know is equal to 2 times your Bard Level + your Performance. When you Level up, you can switch up to 3 Bard spells you know.

  • Bard spells require clear movement and singing. You cannot cast Bard Spells while wearing Heavy Armor or wielding Great Shields, and you must cast them by singing their enchantment.

  • The Spell Skill for your Bard Spells is Performance.

Bard’s Performance

You learn a special performance that motivates everyone around you.

As a Bonus Action, you can choose any creature that can hear you, including yourself. They all regain Posture equal to your Bardic Dice.

You can see your Bardic Dice in the Bard Class Table.

Bard Level 2

Bard Style

You specialize in a specific style of music.

Choose one Bard Subclass for your character. You gain the abilities from Level 2 from that subclass.

You then gain the rest of the Subclass abilities when you reach Level 6, 10, 14 and 18.

Inspiration

You learn how to inspire people, making them push beyond their normal limits.

When a creature within 60 feet of you fails a Check, Attack or Save, you can use your Reaction to add your Bardic Dice to the result of that Check, Save or Attack, potentially turning it into a success.

That creature must be able to hear and understand your language and this creature cannot be yourself.

You can only use this ability 3 times per Short or Long rest.

Bard Level 3

Bard Casting (Rank 1)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Bard spells of Level 1.

Your Caster Rank grants access to Mana, which can be used to cast Spells of Level 1 or higher.

The amount of Mana you have is determined by your Caster Rank, as shown in the Caster Table below.

To cast a Level 1 or higher spell, you must use 1 Mana as mentioned on the table above. The higher the Level, the more Mana you need to spend to cast the spell.

You regain all your Mana when you finish a Long rest.

Bard Level 4

Feat

You gain a unique ability. Choose one Feat from the Feat List for your character.

Bard Level 5

Bard Casting (Rank 2)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Bard spells of Level 2. 

Inspiring Presence

Your presence itself is enough to change the flow of battle.

You and all creatures your choice can add your Bardic Dice to their Initiative rolls. You cannot use this ability if you roll Initiative while Surprised and those creature must also hear and understand your language.

In addition, you can also use your Inspiration 4 times per Short or Long rest and your Bardic Dice becomes 1d6.

Bard Level 6

Bard Style

You gain the abilities of Level 6 of the chosen Subclass. 

Bard Level 7

Bard Casting (Rank 3)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Bard spells of Level 3.

Bard Level 8

Feat

You gain a unique ability. Choose one Feat from the Feat List for your character.

Bard Level 9

Bard Casting (Rank 4)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Bard spells of Level 4.

Grand Inspiration

Your Inspiration is able to lift the spirits of anyone, no matter how hurt they might be.

When you Inspire a creature, that creature can also regains Posture equal to your Bardic Dice.

In addition, you can also use your Inspiration 5 times per Short or Long rest and your Bardic Dice becomes 1d8.

Bard Level 10

Bard Style

You gain the abilities of Level 10 of the chosen Subclass. 

Bard Level 11

Bard Casting (Rank 5)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Bard spells of Level 5.

Bard Level 12

Feat

You gain a unique ability. Choose one Feat from the Feat List for your character.

Bard Level 13

Bard Casting (Rank 6)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Bard spells of Level 6.

Bard’s Taunt

As a powerful bard, your words deal great amount of emotional damage.

When you use your Bard’s Performance ability, you can choose any hostile creature within 60 feet that can hear and understand you to make an Insight Save against your Performance.

Those creatures takes psychic damage equal to your Bardic Dice on a fail, or half as much on a success.

In addition, your Bardic Dice becomes 1d10.

Bard Level 14

Bard Style

You gain the abilities of Level 14 of the chosen Subclass.

Bard Casting (Rank 7)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Bard spells of Level 7.

Bard Level 16

Legendary Feat

You gain a legendary ability. Choose one Feat from the Legendary Feat List for your character.

Bard Level 17

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Bard spells of Level 8.

Transcending Inspiration

Your Inspiration is considered a transcendental experience.

Whenever you roll your Bardic Dice, you can double the result.

In addition, your Bardic Dice becomes 1d12.

Bard Level 18

Bard Style

You gain the abilities of Level 18 of the chosen Subclass.

Legendary Feat

You gain a legendary ability. Choose one Feat from the Legendary Feat List for your character.

Bard Level 20

Bard Casting (Rank 9)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Bard spells of Level 9.

Bard Subclasses

Each Bard has his own musical style, which defines how he Inspires people, as well as how his magic is casted.

Your Subclass grants abilities on the Levels 2, 6 , 10, 14 and 18. With the admission of your GM, you can switch your Subclass anytime, but try to commit with a single Subclass.

Battle Style

Battles are fought with bravery, weapons, spells and most importantly, style! You have all those things and a bit more.

Quick Build: As a Battle Bard, you should focus on either the Strength or Dexterity stats as well in order to properly use weapons.

Battle Style Level 2

Battle Inspiration

You use your Inspiration to fight!

Once per Action, you can add your Bardic Dice to the damage roll of a Melee weapon Attack you make.

Choose any 2 weapons to be your Favorite Weapons. When you finish a Full Rest, you can switch one of your Favorite weapons with another Weapon, which you can find here.
 

Battle Style Level 6

Double Action

You can now use 2 Actions per turn.

Favorite Weapon (4)

Choose any 2 weapons to be your Favorite Weapons. Whenever you Level up, you can switch one of your Favorite weapons with another Weapon. 

Battle Style Level 10

Battle Dance

When you use your Bard’s Performance ability, you can spend 1 Inspiration to make 1 of those creatures that regain Posture make 1 Attack of Opportunity against a hostile creature within reach.

Battle Style Level 14

Great Battle Inspiration

When you Inspire a creature, that creature can also make 1 Attack of Opportunity if possible.

You can use 3 Actions per turn.

Bebop Style

Your music is jazzy and smooth. Everyone that hears you playing starts dancing, and your improvisation skills allow you to change the spells that you cast.

Quick Build: As a Bebop Bard, you are incredibly versatile with the casting of your spells, and your inspiration brings great utility, being able to exploit damage weakness and change the skills used for Saves.

Bebop Style Level 2

Improvisation Casting

You can quickly improvise the chanting of your spells, changing the way that the spell functions.

When you cast a Bard spell, you can spend 1 Inspiration to change 1 of the following things of that spell:

  • You can change the damage type that the spell deals

  • You can double the reach of the spell. If it has a reach of Touch, you can make it become a reach of 30 feet instead

  • If the spell imposes a Save, you can change the skill used for that Save

Jazzy Inspiration

Your music inspires people with rhythm.

When you Inspire a creature, that creature can immediately move 20 feet for free without triggering any Attacks of Opportunities as it has just used Disengage.

Bebop Style Level 6

Lindy Hop

You can easily move around while performing your music.

You can Dash or Disengage with the same Bonus Action you use for your Bard’s Performance ability.

When you do so, you can also spend 1 Inspiration to become in fast terrain for 1 turn.

Bebop Style Level 10

Magical Jazz

Your Inspiration makes creatures move really well.

When you use your Bard’s Performance ability, you can make all the creatures that regain Posture immediately move 20 feet for free without triggering any Attacks of Opportunities as it has just used Disengage.

Bebop Style Level 14

Master of Improvisation

You are now a master of Improvisation.

You can now use your Improvisation Casting ability for free, without spending any uses of your Inspiration ability.

Bebop Style Level 18

When you use your Bard’s Performance ability, you can choose to roll on the Improv table below to produce a random effect:

Charmer Style Level 2

Charm Casting

Your charming style makes any creature easily Enchanted.

When a creature succeeds a Save that would make it Enchanted by you, you can spend 1 Inspiration and subtract your Bardic Dice to that Save, potentially making it fail instead.

If you successfully Influence a creature, you can increase its attitude by 2 instead of just 1

Charmer Style Level 6

Glamorous Performance

Your performance is able to touch the heart of any creature.

After you use your Bard’s Performance ability, you can make all creatures of your choice within 60 feet of you roll an Insight Save against your Performance.

On a fail, they become Enchanted by you for 1 turn, or until you Attack them, or do anything harmful to them.

Charmer Style Level 10

Contagious Glamor

Your glamorous nature extends to the ones you Inspire.

When you use your Bard’s Performance ability, you can make all targets that were Enchanted by you also become Enchanted by the creatures you gave Posture.

Those targets remain Enchanted by the creatures until they Attack them, or do anything harmful to them, or if they stop being Enchanted by you as well.

Charmer Style Level 14

Distracting Charm

Your charm is able to easily distract others, making them less focus on the battle.

All creatures Enchanted by you have disadvantage on their Attacks while they are 60 feet of you.

Charmer Style Level 18

Great Charm Influence

If you successfully Influence a creature that was Enchanted by you, you can increase its attitude by 3 instead of just 2.

Punk Style

Punk Bards inspire people to break the rules. They’re rebellious in nature, and their music gives people strength to stand up and fight with him.

Quick Build: As a Punk Bard, you should focus on an offensive play style. You can use bard spells that deal damage for your Punk Casting, as well as using your Inspiration to grant advantage on the Attack of others.

Punk Style Level 2

Punk Resilience

You are used to loud music.

You gain resistance to sonic damage. In addition, your Max Posture also increases by a number equal to your Bard Level. 

Punk Casting

Your Punk style makes your magic more aggressive.

Once per round, when you cast a Bard spell that deals damage, you can deal extra sonic damage equal to your Bardic Dice.

Punk Style Level 6

Rebellious Nature

Your performance is able to give courage to confront anything.

When you use your Bard’s Performance ability, you can spend 1 Inspiration and make all the creatures that regain Posture stop being Enchanted, Scared or Confused.

Punk Style Level 10

Punk Breakdown

Any sonic damage you deal against Posture is doubled.

Punk Style Level 14

Rupture Ears

Your music is so loud, that even creatures that are Deafened can feel it, and even make their ears bleed.

You can ignore any sonic damage immunities and resitances.

In addition, when you deal sonic damage, that creature must succeed on an Endurance Save against your Performance, or take 1d6 bleed damage and start Bleeding (1d6).

Punk Style Level 18

True Breakdown

When you deal sonic damage to a creature with Posture, you can spend 1 Inspiration and make that creature roll an Endurance Save against your Performance. On a fail, that creature becomes Stunned.

Storyteller Style

You know the power that stories have. They can inspire people, and some can even change the world. Stories live through those that are willing to hear it and tell it. It’s up to you to pass all those stories.

Quick Build: As a storyteller bard, you also learn Wizard spells, which grants a very vast list of spells to learn.

Storyteller Style Level 2

Book Of Tales

You register all stories you know in your Book of Tales. 

Your Bard spells properties changes as following:

  • All Bard spells you know are inscribed in your Book of Tales, and you must have your book to cast Bard spells.

You register all Bard spells you know in your Book of Tales. You can find and transcribe new spells in your Book of Tales as you adventure yourself.

When you find such a spell, you can spend a number of hours equal to 1 + the spell’s level in order to transcribe it to your Book of Tales. In addition, you can also write your spells in other places, such in notes or even create a second Book of Tales if you ever lose the first one.

You can also consult your Book of Tales to gain advantage on all Memory Checks that you make.

Moreover, all spells in the Wizard Spell List are also considered Bard Spells for you and you can learn them.

At last, if you lose your Book of Tales, you can create a new one by Memory. During a Full rest, you can make a Memory Check to see if you can write down the spells you remember. You can then write down a number of spells you knew equal to the result of that Memory Check.

Tales of Comedy

You sometimes add comedy to your inspiration, which can make them work better.

When you roll a 1 or 2 in your Bardic Dice, you can choose to reroll that result. You must use the second result, and cannot reroll it again.

Storyteller Style Level 6

Tales of Tragedy

You can use your Inspiration on hostile creatures after they succeed on a Check, Attack or Save. If you do so, you can subtract your Bardic Dice to their Check, Save or Attack instead of adding. Those creatures must be able to hear and understand your language.

Storyteller Style Level 10

Knowledge of Stories

You can pick 1 spell from any class that you would be able to cast with your current Caster Rank.

You learn that spell and it counts as a Bard spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the total number of Bard spells you know.

During a Long rest, you can switch this learned spell.

Storyteller Style Level 14

Mythological Tales

You can always reroll your Bardic Dice, not only when you roll 1 or 2. You must use the highest result instead of the second result, and you cannot reroll it again.

Storyteller Style Level 18

Legendary Tales

You can now triple the result of your Bardic Dice instead of doubling with your Trancending Inspiration ability.
