Paladin

A devoted and religious warrior, capable of both fighting and using divine magic.

Quick Build: If you focus on a Strength build, you will need to use your Martial or Heavy Weapons skills. If you focus on a Dexterity build, you will need to use your Finesse or Light Weapons skills. You will also need to use your Religion skill for your spells, so you can use Wisdom or Charisma to be your second higher stat, since Religion is a Versatile skill.

Max HP and Posture

The Paladin gains 8 Max HP and 4 Max Posture per level.

Additionally, the Endurance skill is added to the Max HP only once.

The Reflex skill is also added to the max Posture only once as well.

Paladin Level 1

Blessed Warrior

You have been blessed by a powerful deity (or a few), granting you several divine powers. You gain the following abilities:

  • You gain resistance to light damage.
  • You gain advantage on any Saves against being Enchanted, Scared or Poisoned.
  • You gain a +1 bonus to any Stat of your choice, to a maximum stat bonus of + 5 bonus.

Favorite Weapon (2)

You are experienced with weapons.

Choose any 2 weapons to be your Favorite Weapons. When you finish a Full Rest, you can switch one of your Favorite weapons with another Weapon, which you can find here.

Paladin Level 2

Divine Energy

Divine energy now flows through your body.

You gain 1 Divine Slot, which can be used to fuel your Paladin abilities. You regain all used Divine Slots when you finish a Short or Long rest.

In addition, when you hit an Attack against a Fiend or Undead, you can use 1 Divine Slot to deal extra light damage equal to your Religion skill.

Sacred Bless

Your deity/deities blessing gives you power from their domain.

Choose one Paladin Subclass for your character. You gain the abilities from Level 2 from that subclass.

You then gain the rest of the Subclass abilities when you reach Level 6, 11, 15 and 18.

Paladin Level 3

Favorite Weapon (4)

Choose 2 more weapons to be your Favorite Weapons.

Paladin Casting (Rank 0)

Your blessing has granted you divine magic.

Choose the spells from the Paladin Spell List for you to learn. They are all considered Paladin spells, which have these traits:

  • You can only learn Paladin spells of Level 0.

  • The total number of Paladin spells you know is equal to your Paladin Level + your Religion. When you Level up, you can switch up to 3 Paladin spells you know. We recommend you picking Smite as one of your spells.

  • Paladin spells require devotion. You cannot cast Paladin spells while carrying Divine or Infernal Mark Curses.

  • The Spell Skill for your Paladin Spells is Religion.

Double Action

You can now use 2 Actions per turn.

Paladin Casting (Rank 1)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Paladin spells of Level 1.

Your Caster Rank grants access to Mana, which can be used to cast Spells of Level 1 or higher.

The amount of Mana you have is determined by your Caster Rank, as shown in the Caster Table below.

To cast a Level 1 or higher spell, you must use 1 Mana as mentioned on the table above. The higher the Level, the more Mana you need to spend to cast the spell.

You regain all your Mana when you finish a Long rest.

Paladin Level 6

You gain the abilities of Level 6 of the chosen Subclass.

Paladin Level 7

Divine Mana

You now have 2 Divine Slots.

In addition, you can use 1 Mana to regain 1 Divine Slot as a Free Action.

Moreover, whenever you kill a Fiend or Undead creature, you regain 1 Divine Slot back.

Paladin Level 10

Blessed Champion

You have been blessed by the Gods to become a powerful Champion. You gain the following abilities:

  • You become immune against being Enchanted, Scared or Poisoned
  • Your Posture are increased by a number equal to your Paladin Level.
  • You gain a +1 bonus to any Stat of your choice, to a maximum of + 5 bonus

Paladin Level 11

Sacred Bless

You gain the abilities of Level 11 of the chosen Subclass.

Paladin Level 13

Paladin Casting (Rank 3)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Paladin spells of Level 3.

Paladin Level 14

Divine Soul

You now have 3 Divine Slots.

In addition, when you fail a Save, you can use 1 Divine Slot to add 1d4 to the result, potentially making it succeed instead.

Paladin Level 15

Sacred Bless

You gain the abilities of Level 15 of the chosen Subclass.

Paladin Level 16

Legendary Feat

You gain a legendary ability. Choose one Feat from the Legendary Feat List for your character.

Paladin Level 17

Divine Champion

You are now the true Champion of the gods. Your Blessed Champion ability now grants these new abilities:

  • You gain a +2 bonus to any Stat of your choice, to a maximum of +7 bonus
  • Once per Action, when you hit a Melee Attack, you can deal extra 1d8 light damage
  • You gain advantage on any Attacks against Fiends or Undead creatures, and all Fiend or Undead creatures have disadvantage on Attacks against you.

Paladin Casting (Rank 4)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Paladin spells of Level 4.

Paladin Level 18

Sacred Bless

You gain the abilities of Level 18 of the chosen Subclass

Paladin Level 19

Legendary Feat

You gain a legendary ability. Choose one Feat from the Legendary Feat List for your character.

You can find all the Legendary Feats here.

Paladin Level 20

The Chosen One

As a Free Action, you can regain all your Divine Slots and cast any spell that you know at 5th Level, without using any Mana and ignoring any restrictions of Normal Spells.

You can only use this ability once per Short or Long rest.

Paladin Casting (Rank 5)

You gain a Caster Rank and you can now learn Paladin spells of Level 5.

 

Paladin Subclasses

Each Paladin is blessed by a different deity, and their blessed powers reflect their true nature.

Your Subclass grants abilities on the Levels 2, 6 , 11, 15 and 18. With the admission of your GM, you can switch your Subclass anytime, but try to commit with a single Subclass.

Fire Bless

You have been blessed by Lavos, the keeper of the primal fire. His blessing has physically transformed you, making your body turn into ash and cinder, with embers flowing through your veins.

Quick Build: As a Fire blessed Paladin, you should focus on Melee Attacks for your Sacred Flame ability.

Fire Bless Level 2

Ashen Soul

Your fire blessing has partially turned your body into Ash.

You gain resistance to Fire damage.

In addition, you can also create a small fire in your hands, igniting any flammable objects you are holding, such as a torch for example.

Sacred Flame

You can ignite yourself with sacred flames for a brief moment when you hit an Attack, burning any of your foes.

Once per round, when you hit a Melee Attack, you use 1 Divine Slot to deal extra 2d4 fire damage with that Attack. That creature must also succeed on an Agility Save against your Religion, or becomes Ignited (1d4).

However, you also take the same amount of fire damage you have dealt with this Attack.

Fire Bless Level 6

Ash Kindler

You can make yourself become Ignited (1d4) as a Free Action.

While you are Ignited, all your Attacks deal extra +4 fire damage. Light Weapon Attacks deal extra +2 fire damage instead.

You can also stop being Ignited at any time as an Action as well.

Fire Bless Level 11

Ember Soul

Your fire blessing has become even stronger, making you completely made of fire and ash.

You become immune against Bleed and Fire damages.

In addition, you can pass through any creature space, regardless of size. You can also pass through any space as narrow as 1 foot with no problems.

Fire Bless Level 15

Blazing Purge

Your Sacred Flame ability now deals 2d8 fire damage instead of 2d4 fire damage and makes a creature Ignited (1d8) instead of Ignited (1d4).

Fire Bless Level 18

Soul of Cinder

You have become a vessel to the pure essence of fire.

You lose any resistance and immunity to fire damage. However, any fire damage you take restores your HP instead of dealing damage. So if you take 10 fire damage, you instead regain 10 HP for example.

Light Bless

You have been blessed by the Goddess of light Theia. She is known for her generosity, and strong urge to protect others. However, once angered, she is also known to have incredible fury, purging anyone she considered evil.

Quick Build: As a Light Paladin, you can heal and protect others, making you incredibly more supportive.

Light Bless Level 2

Healing Light

You have a special pool of healing power, which replenishes when you finish a Long rest. The total amount in this pool is equal to 3 times your Paladin Level.

As an Action, you can touch a creature and use any amount of this pool of healing power to restore HP from that creature.

Heavenly Protection

Your Soul is blessed with the light of Elysium.

When a creature within 30 feet of you takes any damage, you can use your Reaction and 1 Divine Slot to reduce that damage by a number equal to your Religion skill.

Light Bless Level 6

Bright Purge

Once per round, when you deal light damage to a creature, you can deal extra 1d6 light damage against it.

If the creature is a Fiend or Undead, you can deal extra 2d6 light damage instead.

Light Bless Level 11

Radiating Healing

The HP pool from your Healing Light ability becomes larger.

The total amount in this pool is equal to 4 times your Paladin Level and you can use that pool as a Bonus Action instead of an Action.

Light Bless Level 15

Purge from Heavens

When you use your Bright Purge ability, you can also impose a Reflex Save against your Religion skill to the creature.

On a fail, that creature takes extra 1d6 light damage and it also becomes completely Blinded for 1 turn. On a success, it only becomes partially Blinded for 1 turn.

A Fiend or Undead creature automatically fails this Save.

Light Bless Level 18

Soul of Eternal Light

You can now use your Heavenly Protection ability without using any Divine Slots.

In addition, the target you protected also gains Posture equal to your Paladin Level if you want.

Night Bless

You have been blessed by the Goddess Nyx, the personification of the night itself. Her blessing has allowed you to clearly see in the darkest places, where most would even fear to take a glance.

Quick Build: Your Sacred Night ability gives you easy access to the Darkness spell, which allows you to control the battlefield field of vision or to move without being seen.

Night Bless Level 2

Dark Soul

Your soul is tainted by darkness.

You gain Dark Vision, so you are not partially or completely Blinded in dark areas. If you already had Dark Vision, you gain Blind Senses instead. In addition, you also gain resistance to dark damage.

Sacred Night

You are able to Invoke a part of Night itself for a brief time.

Once per round, you can use 1 Divine Slot to cast the Darkness spell as a Free Action, ignoring any restrictions of Normal Spells. This spells is considered a Paladin spell for you, which uses your Religion as its Spell Skill.

When you gain access to Mana, you can use them to cast this spell normally.

Night Bless Level 6

Dark Purge

You can use the dark energy within you to purge your foes.

Once per round, when you hit a Melee Attack while not exposed to light, you can deal extra 2d6 dark damage.

Night Bless Level 11

One with the Darkness

As a Bonus Action, you can teleport to any space within 120 feet that is not exposed to light.

You can use this same Bonus Action to move the point from the effects of the Darkness spell as well.

In addition, you can also use the Fly Speed with Hover as your Base speed while not exposed to light.

Night Bless Level 15

Fear of the Dark

Your nightly presence is able to inflict fear among others.

When a creature of your choice that is completely Blinded starts its turn within 60 feet of you, that creature must then succeed on a Insight Save against your Religion, or take 1d12 psychic damage and become Scared of everything for 1 turn.

Night Bless Level 18

Dreadful Darkness

When a creature fails the Save from your Fear of the Dark ability, that creature also becomes Paralyzed for 1 turn.

War Bless

You have been blessed by Ares, the god of war. Your brutal and ferocious power has impressed him and as a reward, he blessed you with his powers.

Quick Build: As a War Paladin, you can multiple Attacks with your War Surge, making you focus on a very aggressive play style.

War Bless Level 2

Battle Born

You were born ready for any fight.

You gain advantage on Initiative rolls. In addition, on your first turn during each combat, you gain advantage on all your Attacks against a creature that has not yet acted.

War Surge

The urge to fight allows you to keep Attacking until you hit your enemies with your weapon.

Once per round, you can use 1 Divine Slot and make 1 Melee Attack with a weapon as a Free Action.

If that Attack misses, you regain 1 Divine Slot back.

War Bless Level 6

Warlord

Your presence incite ferocity among your allies.

All creatures of your choice that can hear or see and understand you gain advantage on Initiative rolls.

In addition, if one of those creatures misses an Attack or fails a Save, you can use your Reaction and make that creature reroll that result. The creature must use the second result, and it cannot reroll it again.

War Bless Level 11

War Magic

When you use your War Surge ability, you can cast a Quick Spell instead of making a Melee Attack with a weapon.

If you make an Attack with that Quick spell and that Attack misses, you still regain 1 Divine Slot back.

War Bless Level 15

Divine War

Once per round, before you cast a Normal spell, you can use 1 Divine Slot and cast that spell as if it were a Quick Spell that uses your Action.

War Bless Level 18

War Master

You have become a master of war.

You automatically succeed any Concentration Saves, and whenever you Attack with a spell, you can upcast that spell by 1 Level for free.
