Fake Self

Illusion School – Level 3

Type: Quick Spell, using your Bonus Action

Reach: Self

Duration: 1 minute, using Concentration

Effect: You create a visual illusion of yourself, which copies all of your movements, and shares the same space as you.

Before a creature makes an Attack against you, it must succeed on a Luck Check (DC 11) to see if it hits either you or the illusion. On a fail, the creature hits the illusion instead of you, automatically missing that Attack.

Regardless if it fails or succeeds this Luck Check, the creature then learns which is the real you and which is the illusion. With this knowledge, that creature no longer needs to make this Luck Check again if it chooses to do so.

However, before a creature makes an Attack against you, you can use your Reaction to quickly switch places with the illusion or just pretend to switch places with the illusion.

When you use your Reaction this way, the creature must then succeed on an Insight Save, or automatically miss that other Attack, as you tricked it by using mind games. If the creature chose to still make the Luck Checks, it automatically succeeds this Save.

You can use your Bonus Action to mix your movement with the illusion. If you do so, all creatures will no longer know which is the real you and which is the illusion, and must roll this Luck Check again.

A creature with Blind Senses is unaffected by this spell.
